Horse Boys

The boys were invited to a birthday party today for their friend Amaya. Amaya loves horses and always has - she is a horse girl. The world is divided into two sets of girls: horse girls and not horse girls. I fall into the not horse girl category. I have never really cared about horses and if I rode one or not. I am not saying that one group is better than the other - it is all about the love (or not) for horses.

Since the birthday girl LOVES horses, her wonderful Mom arranged for a horse to come to their house for a couple hours to give the kids rides. How cool is that? Unfortunately, the weather chose not to cooperate and let loose pouring rain during the party time. The party was moved to the equestrian center and I think the kids had more fun there looking at all the horses, brushing them, feeding them hay - basically getting the whole barn experience. So chalk one up to the when one door closes someone opens a window theory - the party was fabulous!

Spence did a great job on the horse. I love his smile in this picture. He had so much fun running around the barn and chasing the girls. And checking out the horses of course!

Evan was the youngest kid at the party but hopped right up on the horse without a second thought. He did so well! The horse even spooked for a second on his ride around, but Ev held on tight and all was great. My heart beat fast for a second as I visualized him thrown to the ground in a crying heap. On the way home Evan asked when we could go back to the horse place and ride again. I told him that we could talk to Aunt Peggy and see if he could go to her house and take a ride on her horse. All night he has been asking me when we are going to Aunt Peggy's house.
He may be a horse boy!
Thanks Amaya for a great time and Happy Birthday!

We should definitely go over to Aunt Peggy's and see the horses. The boys would love it. I talked to her about it last night and she is all set when we are. They have a little coral type up the hill where the kids can ride in a circle. How fun for them. She said they will have to have a smaller saddle thought. Of course she or Tay would have to lead them and yes, good idea --- wear the helmet for sure. :) ps. I love the pics.

That would be so funny if he started to love horses too. Amaya, after all, used to love dinosaurs too!
