Dear Family
and Friends,
As I sit down to write, it looks like a snow
globe outside my window. Beautiful for
sure, but I am glad to be cozy and warm inside. Here is a glimpse of our past year.
Spencer is a
freshman in high school. He is a member
of the high school Players group and that kept him busy through the fall as
they rehearsed for Robin Hood. He interned this summer as a counselor with
the civic theatre youth program and really enjoyed it. He is still involved in Boy Scouts and is
working toward his final rank. Spencer
is looking forward to taking driver’s training in the New Year.
Evan was
thrilled to be cast as “Fake Santa” in his middle school production of Elf.
He is also involved in Destination Imagination and is hoping for yet
another repeat performance and trip to the state finals in the spring. Evan is involved in Boy Scouts as well –
currently a First Class rank. He will
officially enter the teen years in May.
Hailey is
weeks away from turning double digits.
(How are these babies of ours so old?)
She sang and danced through two different week long theatre camps over
the summer. She picked up her pom poms
once again to cheer on her football team to an undefeated season. This fall she started singing with her
school choir and taking piano lessons.
She is still involved in Girl Scouts and enjoys it.
Trent is
still teaching at R-P and can be found working around the theatre until late
into the evening. He will put on The Little Mermaid in March. He also spends a lot of his free time helping
with the Boy Scout troop. In spring he
will enjoy getting the golf clubs back out for his league.
Jen is
working part time at the elementary school and full time at home. She coached Hailey and fourteen other girls
as a “Girls on the Run” coach last spring and will dust off the running shoes
to do it again this spring.
During the
summer we took the kids out of the country for the first time and spent a few
fun filled days in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Highlights included walking under the Bridal Veil Falls on the New York
side, getting soaked on the Maid of the Mist and the giant Skywheel which
offered amazing views of the area. The
kids, of course, could have spent all day everyday on Clifton Hill which is
basically a street filled with arcades and tourist trap shops. It was a great trip and we learned a
valuable lesson - that you should call your cell phone service provider and set
up an international plan before you cross the border into another country. Oops.
It was touch and go on the brink of disaster for a couple of hours for
our teenage texting son.
We hope this
holiday season finds you all happy, healthy and surrounded by love.
