Bend it like Evan!

Today was Evan's first day of soccer. I don't know if he will be a soccer star or not, but he sure had fun. It was a humorous game to watch because his team was playing their first game without even having a practice. The practice was supposed to be on Thursday night but got rained out. About half of the team had played before, but the other half (including Evan) were total novices. Since it was the first day, the fields were complete chaos and games were running late. We were there for over two and a half ours for a game that is supposed to last for forty five minutes. I had high hopes for Evan since while we were waiting he was kicking his soccer ball around on the sidelines and going after it with vigor. He must have tired himself out because once the game actually started he went for it with gusto for only his first time "in". He was having a total ball though. He had the biggest smile on his face while he was in the field and kept making up funny walks and dances that he would do instead of going after the ball. The parents around us thought he was just the cutest little thing. Of course he is the smallest one on his team - including the girls. We will see how the season goes. If he enjoys it, he can continue to play, he may not be a soccer star, but he is good for entertainment! Something tells me that our sports star may be our little Hailey. Spencer will be the actor. Evan will be the artist. Hailey will be the one we are carting all over for sports events. I have no doubt.

His first time in rotation. Keeping up with the big boys.

Deciding to be the goalie. I don't think they really have goalies in U6.

One of his crazy dance moves. The boy takes after his Daddy.

His new little friend. Move over Lydia - there's a new girl in town!

Notice the held hands. Aww. The girls were flocking to him like crazy! He and "E" were stuck to each other like glue.

Evan was a hoot on the soccer field yesterday. It was worth getting up early an a Saturday morning to watch him. You were right, J, the parents were laughing and having a ball watching him on the field with his big smiley face and crazy dance moves. Finally his time to shine after watching Spence at so many events. Even if he didn't make any goals --- he was sure popular with the gals!! Sorry we have to miss next weeks game.

What great action shots you got!! He is so cute!! I am so happy that he is excited to play, even if he is no Beckham, at least he is out having fun, and hey, isn't that what it is all about. Jake's first soccer game is next Sat, and I have to miss it...I am SO sad!!!

You look great, Ev. Very athletic keeping up with the big kids. Your dance moves are great, too. Maybe we can make it to one of your games sometime. That would be so much fun!
